Die identitäre Generation

Yesterday a young Austrian man named Markus Willinger spoke passionately at the London Forum before an audience of seasoned British nationalist activists and campaigners and it would be a massive understatement to say that we were merely impressed.

I take the liberty of reproducing for you the text of the Preface to his book, which I hope will induce you to buy several copies and give them as Christmas and birthday presents to all of the young people that you know. Preface

Europe is in deep crisis. This crisis weighs more heavily than the division of Europe by the Iron Curtain, or the destruction of our continent during both world wars.

This crisis is fundamentally different from others that we have lived through. It is a crisis of the European spirit.

After the National Socialist reign of terror, our continent fell sick and lost its will to live.

The next generation, the ‘68ers, hated and condemned everything that had been passed down to them: every tradition, every belief in their own kind, every will toward an authentic identity.

This belief that one’s own kind is worthless – that cultures, peoples, and families count for nothing and need to be rooted out – threatens to end Europe’s existence as a continent for Europeans.

The people of Europe have lost their will to live; they are dying out, because they don’t want to thrive any longer, because they don’t want to have any more children, and because they’ve forgotten what it means to stand up and fight for one’s own.

The ideology of the ‘68ers has infected Europe. It is a sickness that will kill us if we don’t find a cure. Even if we’ve lost our will to power, our neighbours haven’t, and they’re already penetrating our borders and occupying the places that we freely surrender to them.

The ideology of the ‘68ers is divorced form reality and cannot endure in the long run. It will pass with time. Either we Europeans will recover and free ourselves from it, or it will drag Europe into the abyss, and we will both disappear together.

Never before in human history have foreign peoples invaded to such an extent into a populated region without encountering any resistance from its indigenous residents. That Europe is coming to an end after thousands of years of a proud history is not due to the strength of the invaders, but rather our unwillingness to fight for our survival.

The ‘68ers have made affirming our own identity into something bad. They’ve associated it with war, destruction, mass murder and violence.

They’ve made us so doubtful of our own self-worth that we don’t dare to defend ourselves; we silently endure whatever others do to us.

We’re afraid of being labelled ‘racists’ that we unconditionally accept anti-European racism.

When the ‘68ers took power in Europe, they didn’t just allowthe mass immigration of foreign peoples into Europe; they actively promoted this development. They called it multiculturalism.

We young Europeans grew up on a continent that doesn’t belong to us anymore. We have only known a culture in collapse, our peoples at the ends of their lives. We had to withstand the of our parents and grandparents to uproot us and make us into ‘individuals’ without any identity. They want us to rejoice that Europe is falling, to accept and submit to its defeat. But we won’t. We rebel.

A new political current is sweeping through Europe. It has one goal, one symbol, and one thought: Identity.

It is the current of our generation. It represents European youth. A youth that wants the one thing that the ideology of the ‘68ers can’t give it: a future.

Emanating from France, that proud and noble land, this new current is sweeping countless Europeans along with it. It is taking form and proclaiming the end of the era of the ‘68ers, a new epoch, the age of a new generation: generation identity.

Our generation is rising up to dethrone the ‘68ers. This book is no simple manifesto. It is a declaration of war. A declaration of war against everything that makes Europe sick and drives it to ruin, against the false ideology of the ‘68ers. This is us declaring war on you [the ‘68ers].

‘Génération Identitaire’, ‘Die identitäre Generation’, or ‘Generation Identity’ as it is known in English, is a European wide youth movement that began in France, which is gathering pace and which we at Western Spring broadly support.

Our younger members have made contact with the continental organisers of Génération Identitaire and in the years to come we will begin to see British Generation Identitarians (GI’s) demonstrating on our streets in defence of our culture, our identity and our race.

Some may point out that the GIs have failed to identify the role played in the decline of Europe by organised Jewry and other organised minority groups, and that they have fallen into the trap of accepting the Holocaust narrative, however to voice such criticism is to ignore the reality that it is illegal throughout most of Europe to voice opinions that could possibly be equated with support for National Socialism or  denial of the Holocaust, and for tactical reasons therefore, the GIs sidestep these issues.

We congratulate Markus Willinger on his book and we wish him and his colleagues well.

    Thankyou for your tag on at the end which went on to explain the reasoning behind the third paragraph of the reproduced text.

    It is heartwarming to see european youth rise up against the tyranny of european governments and the powers that control them and make slaves of us all as they dismantle and demolish our proud heritage and unparalled culture.

    There, in flesh and blood is the destiny of Europe. European youth, fired with righteous anger, that gets directed at those who seek to destroy us.

      Granted, the third paragraph could perhaps have been better expressed –but I have yet to read the whole document and avail myself of the context.

      Max rightly annotates at the bottom of the post that G.I. is (perhaps for now?) sidestepping, for tactical reasons, the Issue ‘That Must Not Be Questioned’. This is not a new formula: Jared Taylor’s American Renaissance follow a similar pattern.

      And yet in some quarters of the Nationalist Cause the idea of sidestepping this issue is a heterodox, an absurd position, ultimate dissent, betrayal of those abstract numbers 18 and 88, warranting the usual cat-calls of “sell out”, “goy-boys”, and yes, even that tired old classic, “race traitor”.

      You see, following that train of thought, any notion of boxing cleverly, trying a different position, altering slightly our direction for our collective good (the end goal of National Salvation) must be dismissed, rejected, even crushed to preserve the puritanical line that thus far has got us nowhere.

    Having heard Markus Willinger’s speech first hand yesterday I can safely say that ‘Generation Identity’ offers us serious hope for our common European future.
    By pursuing the tactics of a political movement outside and above local party considerations ‘Generation Identity’ is broadly following the same strategy as ‘Western Spring’.
    One difference of emphasis however is that whilst ‘Western Spring’ is quietly investing in an organisational and ideological framework of support, ‘Generation Identity’ is primarily a street activist movement. Generation Identity clearly recognises the need for audacity in our battle with the neo-Marxist ideology of the ‘1968 Generation’. It is no part of ‘Generation identity’s’ programme to win support by publishing discrete, academic articles, no matter how faultless the logic! Naturally the two approaches are complementary rather than mutually exclusive.
    Having said that I think it important to point out that as a young movement there’s a certain amount of naivety in some of its historical thinking. As any serious student of the twentieth century will know, it wasn’t a “National Socialist reign of terror” which caused our continent to fall sick and lose its will to live, The sickness originated elsewhere and whatever their faults, we share many of the same enemies with Fascism and National Socialism.

      It should be noted that the need for “a large body of political activists, prepared to demonstrate in the streets, and prepared to square up to any violent leftist/Islamic mobs they may encounter in so doing”, is number five of my six prerequisites listed in the ‘Great White Hope?’

      A British equivalent, or a British arm of Generation Identity could well catch the imagination of our youth and provide us with the body of street activists that we need.

      Furthermore, we have the advantage in Britain that certain ideological positions, already referred to, are not (yet) illegal here. Thus an Identitarian youth movement could have greater potential in Britain than it does on the continent.

        The question is how can it be done?
        You have my details already Max, I would be happy to help with such a venture and I reckon this might be something I can help with.
        Many young people are like myself, of scant means and little experience in buying property and the like, so we are of little use to the main body of the MSN, but we are just the ticket for a street army.
        Would we use the name Generation identity? or adapt it into something that sounds better in English?,

    In reply to Anglo-Australian Alliance I think it has to be said that by side-stepping an issue we are often only being diplomatic and seeking ways in which to put our best foot forward. This is different though from being complicit in telling outright lies or ignoring an essential truth.

    We British have always been justifiably wary of ‘ideology’ because we realise that ‘ideology’ like its twin, ‘propaganda’, is more concerned with trying to goad people into taking up a political or religious position than in seeking the unadulterated truth. Part of our empirical British tradition has been to reject ideological systems imposed on us in favour of common sense, We see this in the difference between Napoleonic law as imposed on the Continent and our own English Common Law as handed down to the English Courts through trial and error.

    Although under serious threat, it’s largely through the empirical tradition that we’ve been able to preserve a tenuous hold on our free speech. This as Max Musson says still allows us an advantage and a greater potential to inspire European youth simply because historical truth is inspiring whilst lies and half truths, for ideological/propaganda reasons, are soul destroying.

      Quite right. For the purpose of clarity I was not suggesting at all that the issue ‘That Must Not Be Questioned’ should be ignored or rejected, rather that at times it is expedient (especially with regard to those on the Continent, where discussion of it is legislated against) to put this issue aside for a moment –or at the very least be more discretionary with it.

      As Markus said, we must chose our weapons carefully. And what really stuck out for me was his comment that, and I paraphrase, all other attendant issues pale into insignificance if Europe is not to survive.

      And so, in my initial comment, welcome (temporarily) sidestepping other concerns in order to focus on the main goal of salvation.

      I will readily admit to being an ideologue, but the discussion of abstract, philosophical, or esoteric political theory should at this time be on the back burner in favour of pragmatics, strategy, and achieving goals.

    Generation Identity offers such hope that its potential must not be stunted by sterile disputes over its attitude to a regime which has been dead for nearly seventy years. In any case, I suspect that it is too loose and formless a movement to be identified with any ideology beyond a patriotism-fuelled loathing for what the Left has done to our countries.

    Being free from ideology is a strength in a street action movement because people from the widest possible range of Right movements can invest it with their own hopes. This might include, in the continental context, monarchist and clericalist groups as well as overtly nationalist ones. So an open embrace of national socialism would greatly narrow its appeal and condemn it to irrelevance.

    The youthful instinct to rebel against the Old which Generation Identity represents is not absent in Britain. It is represented here in the uncouth form of the EDL. For all its defects, for all the multi-racial posturing of its leaders, for all its shadowy funding, there is material there out of which something much better can be built.

    Incidentally, the passing away of the generation which remembers the War and the Occupation, and was affected by the overwhelming tidal wave of war-time propaganda, (and the fact that the 68ers are now drawing their pensions), may make room for the re-emergence of some pre-1933 fascist traditions which have been rather lost in all the noise and fury of the last century.

    I think for GI to avoid the Holocaust debate & concentrate on the here & what’s happening now is a good idea to avoid getting bogged down is sideshows which is a psyops tactic.
    Later on it would be a good idea to understand why this situation came about & who is responsible for that.

    I grew up in Germany. The appearance of GI is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. Their choice of the word ‘identity’ is brilliant . Identity precedes ideology. Identity is the root, the core. I bought markus’ book on Amazon Kindle. This is our youth rising o the challenge. More power to them.
