  1. I am mainly a classical music listener, however my favourite Irish pieces are Three Drunken Maidens by Planxty – the wild fiddle playing in that one is quite stirring. Also Benbulben of Sligo appeals to the nationalist’s sentiments.

  2. The Republic of Ireland flag has NOTHING to do with St. Patrick’s day.

St. Patrick’s day is the national day of the whole of Ireland and is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland. The St. Patrick’s Cross, the historical and legitimate flag of Ireland, would have been a more appropriate flag to use.

    1. I agree. The Irish Tricolour is an inappropriate flag to use as its the symbol of a sovereign state which covers only 26 counties of the island whereas the St Patrick’s Cross (or St Patrick’s Saltire) is a neutral symbol for ALL Irish people whether they live in the Republic and consider themselves to be Irish only or if they live in the six counties of NI and believe themselves to have both an Irish AND British identity.

It is good to see that the British Democratic Party didn’t make this mistake.

Thank you Max, but I did leave 2 innocuous comments, supportive of our peoples, one on “The Hobbit” and one on “Mein Kampf” and no sign of them? With 2 emails asking if they might be posted.

Not quite sure what happened there.

    1. No, I can’t explain that either. I sometimes edit or censor comments made by viewers if they are inappropriate, but I have no recollection of doing that with comments made under your username. Please feel free to leave further comments should you wish as no-one here has a grudge against you or the Irish.
