* Only 6 years to go until majority of U.S. school-age children are non-white.
America, like Britain, has only about 30 years to go before it becomes a majority non-white country, new statistics from the US Census Bureau have found.
According to the figures, whites will no longer be a majority in U.S. by 2043 as the Hispanic population surges. Whites currently make up around 64 per cent of the American population, but will drop below 50 per cent by 2043.
At the same time, non-whites will form the majority of school-age children by 2019, just 6 years away.
The official projection shows that the “non-Hispanic white population” currently stands at 197.8 million, will increase to 200 million by 2024, but will then enter a “steady decline in absolute numbers” as the age spread rapidly widens between the racial groups.
“’The fast-growing demographic today is now the children of immigrants,” Marcelo Suarez-Orozco, dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, was quoted as saying. Even with slowing immigration, Suarez-Orozco says, the “die has been cast” for strong minority growth from births.
In 1960, whites made up 85 per cent of the American population. By 2000, this had dropped to 69 per cent, and the current 64 per cent will drop to43 per cent by 2060.
Last year, non-whites became a majority among babies ages 1 and younger.
Already, the District of Columbia and four states – Hawaii, California, New Mexico and Texas – have non-white populations greater than 50 per cent; across the U.S., more than 11 per cent of counties have tipped to majority nonwhite status.
Last month, nearly all voters over age 65 were white (87 per cent), but among voters under age 30, just 58 per cent were white.
All these figures makes it abundantly clear that a brand new and revolutionary strategy will have to be developed if the white race is to survive at all beyond the year 2100.
