Setting the bar high in terms of speaking ability among nominees this year, Mark Collett is a highly competent and effective speaker, who benefits from much practice gained through the prominent role he played in the BNP in years past. In addition, Mark has gained further experience of public speaking more recently, appearing as a regular guest on the David Duke Show and producing a series of podcasts and now videocasts on his own YouTube channel.
Mark has an ability that is rather special and which he shares with last year’s winner, Alex Davies, the ability to speak for extended periods of time, either without notes, or without the need to regularly refer to them. This enables a speaker to maintain eye contact with his audience and to read and respond to the mood of that audience — vital in someone who aspires to become an exceptional orator. Mark also speaks clearly and relatively slowly, and this allows him time to add emphasis and convey the passion he feels for his subject.
